Shipping is our business and has been in my blood since I started in Lloyds Avenue London EC3 as a 16 year old runner. Having progressed through the ranks, I am indeed fortunate to have been taught by Shore Captains in an age before computers, where knowledge gained through years of experience was the only way to load vessels.
In 1994, with the support of Ecuadorian Line, we started Kestrel Liner Agencies Ltd from a small Office in Barking, Essex. Our Company has grown significantly and we are now the leading Independent Liner Agency in the UK, with Offices in London Stansted, Manchester, Dover, Hull and Aberdeen, all strategically placed to better serve our principals and customers alike.
In 2010, we were named in Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Birthday Honours List, receiving “the highest award for British business”, The Queen’s Award for Enterprise: International Trade for delivering 6 consecutive years of growth, whilst maintaining the highest degree of propriety. Our achievement is made all the more special because it is during the most difficult economic period in recent history.
As if this wasn’t enough of an accolade, we were also finalists in the National Business Awards for Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability.
In 2011, I was a finalist in the National Business Awards for Entrepreneur of the Year. Well I lost... but to keep winning and losing in perspective makes you a better person. Understanding why you lost is all that matters. So pick yourself up and move on. And I did...
After being the first and only liner agency business named in Her Majesty’s Birthday Honours List in 2010, we were overjoyed to be named again in 2018.
From a fledgling two man operation from a small rented office in Barking to a company with over 180 employees in Asia, Africa, Europe, USA and the Caribbean, we are a truly global company, with ethics, sustainability and CSR at its core. We are proud to be The UK’s largest Liner Agency Business.
As a young man growing up in East London, I know what it means to have nothing but dreams and aspirations, and it is my view that regardless of your upbringing, regardless of your path up till now, you and only you choose the way forward, which is why I strongly advocate that we who can, must make changes in the way we educate, and therefore stigmatise people. Too much emphasis is placed on academia and not enough on personality and honesty, two of the founding requirements to succeed.
Being unable to read and write coherently – what does that mean?
How many of us have met a dyslexic who made you laugh and understood what you wanted?
For the record, I care not about your academic qualifications, or your upbringing, nor your colour or religion, but more...can we work with you? Well, can we? You have my details. I don’t hide in plain sight.
I would like to thank you personally for taking the time to visit our website, and I truly hope you have found it useful.
